In India, Paakundalu or Paakam Undalu is a popular sweet made especially during the harvest festival known as Makarsankranthi. The batter is made from rice flour to which jaggery syrup or sugar, and grated coconut will be added. It is not uncommon for some people to make this Pakundalu or Pakam Undalu sweet even though they are not celebrating the festival. This is because people like it very much and therefore prepare it for themselves.
